Tristan Murail: Winter Fragments For Five Instruments And Synthetic Sounds - Conducted By Bruno Mantovani
Composed by the ondes martenot’s inventor.
This work for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano and various electronic instruments (electronic keyboard, MIDI, synthesizer), creates and uses visions of winter as a metaphor for loss. In this piece, he pays homage to his friend, the composer Gérard Grisey. The fragility of life is depicted by the surface of a frozen river: beautiful, yet vulnerable to the whims of nature.
