Tristan Murail: Glass Tigers For Ondes Martenot And Piano By Nathalie Forget And Flore Merlin
Composed by the ondes martenot’s inventor.
For the ondes martenot competition, the Conservatoire National supérieur de Musique de Paris commissioned Murail to compose the piece entitled Glass Tigers. In this work, the piano is used percussively, sounding the "A" and its harmonics, while the Martenot waves recompose other notes to create the chords. The differing resonances of the "A" create different tones, but they always dissolve back into each other.
