Tristan Murail: Forgotten Territories For Solo Piano By Flore Merlin
A piece composed for solo piano in 1976-1977 by Tristan Murail.
Differing from contemporary percussive writing for piano, Forgotten Territories seeks to reflect a more Lisztian style of composing. This composition comes from an idea of Tristan Murail: let the sounds resonate until they die out naturally. First performed in May 1978 at the Accademia Filarmonica in Rome, this piece, which dedicated to the pianist Michaël Levinas, encourages the dedicatee to never stop working.
