Olivier Messiaen: Visions De L’Amen By Marie Vermeulin And Vanessa Wagner
An ominous merging of pianos
Born on the 10th December 1908 in Avignon, Olivier Messiaen would go on to become one of France’s leading composers. A peripatetic musician, much of Messiaen’s œuvre takes inspiration from the many places he visited. Each of the players of this work play at either end of the keyboard. One provides the storming and forbidding base chords, while a positively eerie top part is played on by the other, creating a horror movie-like work.
