Luciano Berio: Folk Songs 2 - With Nora Fischer
A cycle of harmony composed in 1964 based on traditional texts and songs of folklore.
Dedicated to Cathy Berberian (an Armenian American singer and the wife of Luciano Berio) these Folk Songs were originally performed by the dedicatee and the Julliard Ensemble, conducted by the composer himself in 1964. The second part of this Folk Song cycle includes five pieces: Malurous o uno fenno and Lo Fiolaire, A femminisca, Motettu, and Azerbaijan Love Song. In addition to a mezzo-soprano soloist, Berio's score features flute, clarinet, two percussions, guitar, viola and cello.
