Henry Purcell: Fantasia In A Minor, Z.744, by the Benjamin Consort
For four violas
A Baroque work by English composer Henry Purcell, Fantasia Z.744 in A minor — written for four violas in 1680 — is the thirteenth of fourteen fantasias in his broader work, Fantasias and In Nominees. Living a relatively brief life of only 36 years, Henry Purcell made a great and lasting impact and is today considered to be one of the greatest English composers ever to have lived. The Fantasias are among his works written not for the royal ear, but his own pleasure.
