Henry Purcell: Fantasia In G Minor, Z.735, by the Benjamin Consort

For four violas

A brooding and euphonic Baroque work by English composer Henry Purcell, Fantasia Z.735 in G minor — written for four violas in 1680 — is the fourth of fourteen fantasias in his broader work, Fantasias and In Nominees. Composing from the age of nine years old, Purcell went on to become one of the most eminent composers of his time conceiving works which scored some of the greatest moments of his age. The Fantasias are among his works written not for the royal ear, but his own pleasure.
