György Ligeti: Trio For Horn, Violin And Piano, By Vitaud, Petrlik And Ramez
A tribute to Brahms for horn, violin and piano, composed in 1982.
The trio movement marks a stylistic turning point in György Ligeti's career. The third stage of his compositional career is characterized by a return to diatonic form. This sonata opens with the andantino con tenerezza, then the vivacissimo molto ritmico, the alla marcia and then finally the adagio (entitled Lamento). These separate and wide-ranging movements demonstrate Ligeti's ability to write for horn, violin and piano.
