György Ligeti: Polyphonic Study For Four Hands, By Jonas Vitaud And Guillaume Vincent
A very short polyphonic study, composed in 1943.
At only 20 years of age, György Ligeti composed his polyphonic study for four hands on piano. Having been prevented from studying the sciences, he turned to composition, focusing on organ and cello. After three years of study at the Conservatory of Cluj, Ligeti began to write music. Very shortly after, the score of his Polyphonic Study was recognised for its greatness. This early work predates his time spent in a forced labor camp during the war.
