Georg Philipp Telemann: Brockes-Passion TWV 5: 1: VII. Jesu Tod Directed By Raphaël Pichon

The seventh movement of the Passion depicts the death of Jesus.

This "sacred opera" is inspired by the story of Christ as told by the Gospels.  Telemann's Oratorio focuses on the life of Christ, and this movement depicting the death of the "King of the Jews". In this seventh movement in the baroque musical language, Jesus exclaims "Eli, lama sabachtani [which means] my God, why did you abandon me?" Before giving up the ghost, Christ declares that "All is accomplished." And to the Daughter of Zion, who challenges him to the salvation of the world, affirms that he is near.
