Franz Schubert: Five German dances D90 (excerpts)

Duration : 7 minutes

L'Orchestre philharmonique de Radio France dirigé par Nicolas Altstaedt interprète deux des cinq danses allemandes D90 de Franz Schubert. Excerpt from the Barry Lyndon Tribute Concert, recorded live on 17 March at the Radio France Auditorium.

Schubert's Danse allemande n° 1 en ut majeur was used repeatedly throughout the film to illustrate musically Barry's apparent success within Prussian and English aristocratic society. It is therefore used as a leitmotif, much like Schubert's other work used by Stanley Kubrick, the second movement of the Trio for violin, cello and piano op.100, mirroring the Danse in the programme as it does in the film.
