Chaya Czernowin : "Jour 1" conducted by Matthias Pintscher

Duration : 12 minutes

To celebrate its 40th anniversary, the Ensemble intercontemporain conducted by Matthias Pintscher performs "Jour 1" (Days One - On the Face of the Deep) by Chaya Czernowin. Live recording on March 30, 2017 at the Philharmonie de Paris.

Premiered on March 30th 2017, Czernowin’s explosive ensemble piece reflects the very moment God declared: “Let there be light!” This is one of seven works inspired by the Book of Genesis, which the Ensemble Intercontemporain and the Philharmonie de Paris commissioned to mark 220 years since Joseph Hayden wrote The Creation. Reflecting the paths taken by the ethereal rays that first beamed upon the world, this piece throws light onto the full range of the Ensemble’s sonic ability.
