Arcangelo Corelli: Sonata In G Major Op. 2 No. 12 By The Apothéose Ensemble
An unsung hero of Baroque chamber music
Arcangelo Corelli was a renowned violinist alongside his Baroque-era composing. Listening to this work, one might be forgiven for thinking that the chords were an inspiration to Beethoven’s Ode To Joy. The lovely movements of the chords are very reminiscent of the quieter first moments of the piece and feature satisfying descending passages. Can you hear the Beethoven in this work?
