By Arcangelo Corelli: Concerto Grosso In G Minor Op. 6 No. 8 By L’Entretien des Muses
A work for winter
Born in a small town in North-Eastern Italy on the 17th February 1653, Arcangelo Corelli came to music through the violin. His work would go on to influence musical genres to come, the sonata and concerto among them. As one would expect, Corelli’s “Christmas Concerto” has some seasonal sounding sections and rhythmic passages that might stir up the image of a horse-drawn sleigh plowing through the snow.
