André Jolivet: Three poems for Ondes Martenot And Piano By Nathalie Forget And Flore Merlin
Three poems (Waves, Serimpie and the Chant d’Oppression) set to music by the French composer André Jolivet.
The three poems for ondes Martenot and piano reveal Jolivet’s talent of capturing the sounds of other instruments. After the first poem, waves, Jolivet performs Serimpie, a poem from Mana's third play, The Princess of Bali (1935). The last of the three poems is entitled Chant d'oppression and also features a viola. After these compositions were performed, Jolivet received praise by the ondes martenot’s maker, Olivier Messiaen.
