Alberto Posadas: Elogio De La Sombra, by the Diotima Quartet
A reflection on mortality
Having used mathematics and physics to develop new musical techniques, Alberto Posadas has forged his name as a groundbreaking contemporary composer. This 2012 composition takes the name of a work by Argentinian writer, Jorge Louis Borges, which reflects on blindness, old age and death. In this piece, he recreates the dark thoughts of a man dreading his own demise with heart-wrenching dissonant slides and minor second clashes.
