Under the direction of Matthias Pintscher, the Ensemble Intercontemporain and the Philharmonie de Paris come together to mark 220 years since Joseph Haydn wrote The Creation. The commissioned work offers a contemporary take on the story of creation as told in the book of Genesis.
In this one-off concert, seven modern composers reenact each of the seven days of creation, beginning with On The Face of the Deep (Day One) by Chaya Czernowin, who imitates the moments after God declares: “Let there be light!” This is followed by each of subsequent next six days; Marko Nikodijevic’s Dius Secondis; Franck Bedrossian’s Vayehi Erev Vayehi Boker (Day Three); Anna Thordvaldsdottir’s fourth day interpretation, Illumine; Marines I Boscatges (Day Five) by Magrané Figuera, Stefano Gervasoni’s sixth day representation, Eufanique and Riss 1 (Day Seven) by Marc Andre.
