The world-famous Manfred Quartet have frequented many of the world’s best venues for the last three decades. Brought to the stage to celebrate this fact, they perform three pieces — one for each decade of their performing — with some help from guest players for the quintet and sextet pieces (alto violinist Grégoire Vecchioni; cellist François Robin and pianist Florent Boffard).
As usual, the Manfred Quartet perform with the vigour and emotion for which they are renowned. The first piece we hear is the String Sextet No. 2 in G Major Op. 36 by Johannes Brahms, followed by Florence Baschet’s Cycle for String Quartet. Finally, the performance ends with a barnstorming rendition of Schumann’s Quintet for piano and strings in E flat Major Op. 44. Celebrate the wonderful players’ successes by listening to this excellent concert!
